Bed at Boulters Lock
Whilst in Cambridge over the summer I re-read Jerome K. Jerome's "Three men in a boat". It's lucid descriptions of how the author whiled away his time with 2 friends on a trip up the Thames in the 19th century made a very pleasant backdrop to our own lives as we sailed gently, but oh so quickly, on our trip through English summertime.
Tonight, I find my self through some ironic twist of fate, staying in a converted flour mill at Boulters Lock in Maidenhead looking down on the dark icy waters of the lock where Jerome's boat passed over 100 years previous.
