You get to take time out to learn about stuff that you wouldn't normally have bothered to find out about. I am finding it really rewarding. For example Alexander is into sharks big time. I don't know why, but of all of the fish he has seen at Monterey Bay Aquarium (we went there every weekend when Dena was rehearsing) sharks are the fish he thinks are really neat. Consequentially, we have watched movies about sharks and read books about sharks. I have learned quite lot- shark's pre-date dinosaurs by a factor of 2X and the sides of their bodies are acoustically sensitive.
