Somewhat knackered after a hard days show, Dave, Dave, Mark and I wanted somewhere for dinner. I remembered Marrakech, where I went with Ed a while back. We had a great time- the ambience was a wonderful change from full on high tech: Moorish decor, hypnotic ethnic music, incense, wonderful Moroccan food and a belly dancer.
I especially liked the reverse ethnic fusion music. We tend to take some basic electro/new age music and pepper it with samples of arabic/afro/indian stuff. We were listening to Moroccan techno peppered with Moroccan samples using the western techniques and style- loved it. The belly dancer was initially taken aback an thought she ought to get down like John Travolta. Then she kinda go into it.
We talked the night away, covering everything from our musical interests, our families to Dave's new Mac mini. One of the best evenings I have had in a long while.
There are some moments in time when we just don’t look our best. This is one of Mark’s, but he had a good time all the same.
[Anyone would think the poor bloke had been up till 3:00am every night finsihing his demo: Well actually he had!]
