Visiting Alex, Steve and Ian

420 miles later we arrived in Carlsbad and had dinner with Alex, Steve and Ian. Dena drove the whole way- which gave me time to take in the surrounding. I was really surprised the I-5 was only at two lane road (dual carriageway)  until it gets to Bakersfield. I had heard so much about it I imagined it to have at least 3 lanes, but it does not. LA was the usual crawl.
