Change of Lifestyle
From what I can tell my mother seems a lot better. I am not that impressed the current National Health Service, who misdiagnosed my mothers condition and delayed her entry to hospital, putting her life risk. If it hadn’t been for Ali and Richard ringing the alarm bells, I am quite sure she would have ended up dead. Still, when she did get admitted to hospital they did seem to fix her up ok.
Having spoken with her today (on our Anniversary- 8 years Woo Hoo!) , I am quite amazed that she was discharged with a drug treatment plan and told her body will take a while to adjust to the new drugs- THE END.
In my experience, not just from my mother, but from other people on heart medication it's that every person is different and it is hit-and-miss to get the right balance of medication for the individual. For my mother there are no planned follow up consultations with either the hospital people or her GP. In fact when she went to see her GP today, he didn’t even know she had been in hospital last week!! Sigh!
My mothers heart will never be quite the same after this episode so she will have to make some adjustments to here life style- No more sending me email first thing in the morning; since when she makes it downstairs she will have to stay downstairs, at least until her medication kicks in. Her heart can be supported by medication to keep fluid from building up again, so I hope she has a few more years left in her.
