On the Road

Here begins the Rod and Alexander tour of the UK. We set off from San Jose airport, down to LA and then on to London. All in all Alexander was a great travel companion and looked after his stuff very well. The switch from Premium Economy on Virgin to American Airlines coach class was a bit of a shock to me. Alexander was exactly the wrong size for the seats- too short to get his feet on the ground and too long to curl up without spill his head and shoulders into my seat. It was a rather uncomfortable trip to London where I couldn't even watch the in flight entertainment because it shone onto Alexander and woke him up.
American even charges $5 a pop for wine on transatlantic flights! Having been duped twice by cabin staff not bringing me my change back on domestic flights, I offered to pay by credit card which they then forgot about and IMHO evened things out.
Our plane rides all ran late and we arrived in London around 3:45pm only to wait on the tramac for 30 minutes while they found a gate.
When we did get to my parents we went straight to the pub where Alexander climbed himself to exhaustion on the indoor climbing frame and then fell asleep in bed within 5 minutes. I think the travel schedule was much better than arriving in the morning and then trying to get through the day with a fractious youth.
