Shark!

We went to the aquarium to see the new shark exhibit. This too was fascinating- there are more than 350 kinds of shark in the world. This boggled my mind. The aquarium is the first to keep a great white shark in captivity for more than 2 weeks. She has been swimming around in the Outer Bay exhibit for nearly 6 months- but has recently killed two other sharks which may mean she won't be swimming around in captivity for much longer. Sharks aren't used to walls that they can't swim over, since they are unlikely to encounter them in the ocean. Scientists believe that a consequence of this is that when the white shark encounters another shark swimming towards it, her passing protocol fails (other shark goes left, she tries to go right and bashes in to the wall) and she instinctively attacks her apparent aggressor.
