Plain O

This trip was not one I wanted to make, ever. Especially on my day off! C’est La Vie. :-(Business is business)

The shrine by the river

We stopped at a bridge for refreshments and of course Alexander had to throw rocks into the water, as all good children (and adults like me) do. It was then that we noticed a shrine under the bridge. The card just said… Happy Mothers Day, we Love you Mom.

Into the forest again

Today we headed into the forest near Aptos again. We feel Alexander should do his share of the backpacking and so he now carries Fiona with him wherever he goes. Just kidding, but he wanted to try at least. We walked up the old railroad grade for a few miles and then down to the river. The weather was fantastic. Alas my plan to end up at the pub was thwarted by a Blues festival next door. Still we did get to Bangkok West, so I can’t complain.

Honorable Mention

My old friend Christophe got in touch to tell me he had given me honorable mention in his latest Free Forth. This was w.r.t. a paper I gave at a Forth conference a few years ago suggesting removal of part of the system. It was kind for him to credit me. I have yet to try out his Forth and see how he has implemented it.

Even Fiona got in to the act. (For the avoidance of doubt, the hot tub was not hot, so she was ok to be in it.)

Mothers Day

We headed up to Bob and Marty’s for a picnic in the park. Boy was it hot! The best part of the day for me after Dena's excellent picnic, was getting into Bob and Marty’s pool where I spent several hours chilling off.

Dena and I are somewhat bemused by our sons rise to baseball stardom, neither of us like team sports much at all. However, Alexander is totally jazzed by being on a team and making a contribution and we can’t fault that.

Alexander’s Got Game

The last three weeks Alexander has been playing T-Ball (baseball with where you hit the ball off a T) with a vengeance. He has gotten the game ball, given for outstanding achievement, 4 weeks in a row. This is party due to his abilities and party due to the fact that he is one of the only kids who is actually watching what is happening and not digging in the dirt. Needless to say he is very proud of himself and practices with me nearly every night.
