Charlie Passes On
My Uncle Charlie died last night in a hospital in Port Glasgow. He had been in hospital for several months, immobile and somewhat out there. We had all hoped that his diabetes could have been brought under control and that he would get back on his feet and home (having been in hospital since before Christmas). Alas that was not to be.
I'll remember him for true West coast Scotsman he was, and for all the kindness he showed me through the years. He and his wife Isobel gave me and many of my friends a warm welcome when ever we ventured North. Under his roof some my best friends from England and America have stayed and they will remember.
One thing Charlie said to me a long time ago...
“What's fur ye al no go by ye.”
(What is for you will not pass you by.)
And I have lived by that belief and it has held true.
