A day at the zoo
The day after Halloween is a dark day indeed. It's the day the children sit down and eat their candy in earnest. Sugar rush gives way to negative hypoglycemia and your furry little darling turns in nasty a little gremlin!
The schoolteachers of America are well versed in this phenomenon and now annually declare the day after Halloween a "teacher training day" meaning that they can close the school and make your little gremlin your little problem.
We decided the best way to deal with this years impending storms was plenty of down time in the car so we took the kids to the zoo in San Francisco. Fiona had never been to a zoo full of wild animals but like Alexander when he was that age, she was completely unfazed by the experience because at that age why shouldn't you round a corner and see giraffe. All things are both possible and probable when you are less than that 2.
All in the animals took a bit of a back seat compared to the swings and roundabouts, but that was ok. The main thing was we got through the day as a family.
