Flag football

One sport we have kept Alexander away from to date is (American) football. It really is as rough as it appears on the TV and even Bob was against Alexander taking this up for fear he would get injured. However this season we weren't so lucky. Kids in the US who are Alexanders age can play a version of football called flag football which doesn't involve tackling. Instead each player has two flags attached to their waist and the objective is to rip the flag off your opponent when they have the ball. Apart from that one difference every other aspect of the game is authentic. The game is totally stop/start with endless group huddles and swapping people in and out. Oh and there aren't any cheer leaders.

Needless to say Alexander is a natural at this game being so nimble and fleet of foot, but I noted that he hardly ever gets to play. I guess he hasn't proved himself to the coach yet.

Our neighbor across the street got Alexander into the game and now here I sit on my Sunday afternoon from 1:30pm to 4:30pm watching him practice and play while I blog on my N810 with an Apple bluetooth keyboard attached.

My only problem with this arrangement is that today it is so cold my fingers won't type.
