Don't Mention the War!
And BTW you have to have watched the UK Comedy Faulty Towers to understand the title of this post. If you haven't seen this (a) you should and (b) you should probably refrain from reading the rest.
Well, all-in-all we did pretty well going for a whole week without any political or religious debate. But alas we faltered at the last hurdle- the final dinner with Gray and Julie at Bob and Marty’s: I don’t know who started it but by the time the meal was over Julie and Dena were having a rip-roaring argument over the invasion of Iraq complete with personal insults and finger pointing. It luckily didn’t end too acrimoniously and we bade our farewells hugging in the way Americans find necessary and promising to see each other soon. We then went our separate ways- Gray and Julie back to their life in the military and Dena and me back to our life in the real world.

Spouse wishes to point out (without using her finger) that personal insults were not forthcoming from her side of the argument.
Nor did the incident constitute suffering in any way.
Spouse further wishes to point out (again without using her finger) that said photograph may have been taken out of context by the media and she may have been acting under orders.
I "deeply deeply" regret any distress caused by this photograph and any implication that those in the picture were in any way taking part in any kind of torture.
